Music - The Integral Part of Our Existence

Music - the word immediately connects an individual with an instrument or a recent song he/she has heard or favourite singer or to the world of melodies she /he is fond of. In my opinion, music was there even before the existence of human being and it will be there even after that.
Music has power to connect people oceans apart. I happened to be at a beach at Florida before few years. The amazing thing about the beach was not only the beauty of the sea but also music. I experienced it for the first time that people, who do not know one another, come with their musical instruments there and create magic and live. And the cherry on the cake was the happy faces on the beach. I did not see a single dull face on that beach and that was the power of music.
As the culture differs, music differs but the soul remains the same. Whether it is 'Sufi song' or 'a bhajan' or 'a choir', you feel the oneness with the God. Though these types are lands apart, we connect with the music. Likewise, music of the wind is different from the music of a river. Music of fire is different from the eternal sounds of space, sea, people, trees and existence.
The existence of human being is surrounded by music. In ancient age, people used to communicate with the help of different sounds. Isn't that a type of music? It is. People used to beat rhythm whenever they were happy. Heartbeats have its own rhythm. If the heartbeats stop, the existence stops. If we look at realistic point of view, music help people to de-stress themselves. Many people use it as a tool to concentrate. e.g.: Sachin Tendulkar used to listen to music while batting. When the musician feels the oneness with the 'One' while creating music, we, as laymen, feel the beauty and het amazed by the music.
The debate between preserving  country's traditional music and international music has been there for ages now. In my opinion, one should be aware about her/his tradition and accept the newness of internationally heard music. I believe that today's traditional music is also been influenced by international music ages ago. E.g.: The violin is not an Indian Instrument but now it is considered as one of the integral part of Indian Classical Music.
To conclude, I would like to say that music is an art that help people to be near the 'One' . Such art should not be divided into states, countries or continents. It should be accepted as it is without labelling it.

Be Positive

What does it mean being positive? Is it finding the good qualities in people and not bad? Is it looking at the glass as half filled with water? Probably yes, probably no.
Positivity depends and differs from person to person. Raavan was also positive from his point of view. He wanted to take revenge who insulted his sister. Logically, who wouldn't do that? Even Duryodhan, Drudrastra, and shakuni from their point of views. And we can deny the fact that all our heros Ram, Krishna, Pandavas were also positive from their point of view...

For me being positive is seeing things as it is. In its really form.

About a year ago I watched one of the episodes of Black Mirror. It shows that mother has activated a system in her daughter's mind that whenever she watches a thing which is frightening, het vision gets blur. The mother has done it in order to protect her child. The child has not seen even her blood when she falls from stairs. The vision gets blur. She doesn't know what that thing ia that gets blur. Whenever the frightening emotions are aroused, her vision gets blur. And eventually she kills her mother without even realizing it.

We does the same. Instead of seeing things as it is, we try to hide unwanted information about people, or situation and see only those aspects that we want to see. That will lead us to a major heartbreak in a long run.
By not looking at the figures of Corona cases in the world or not watching news, will not change the reality but we must also see the recovery rate.

Whether the glass is half filled with water, half empty or half with water and half with air, is the secondary thing. We must see the existe3of the glass first. That's what we are missing.

Let's pray

'God: I want you to pray son, Go ahead..
Bruce: Feed the hungry... And bring... Peace to the world... how was that?
God: excellent, if you want to be miss America.'

The above mentioned is the dialogue from the movie 'Bruce Almighty' between Bruce and The One.

Then the God tells him to pray what Bruce real want. And he learns how to pray... We often don't know how we should pray... I asking something from the God is not a prayer... That's our desire or wish. Of course, we don't want to see anyone hungry but don't you think that the God is a better person to see that everyone gets the food.?

Prayer is something which comes from within and we don't have to try for it... And for that we muat listen to the voice which is coming from within... Listening to the voice is very conscious effort and at the same time we have to be very much careful while listening to it... It can the voice of a person who truly loves us and we think that it is our voice. It can be the voice of our favorite teacher. It can be the voice of some great thinker. It can be the voice of a dear friend. Where is our voice?

If we fail to listen to our voice, we fail to pray... Listen to your own voice(without any filter) and pray... Then come the real prayer...

Nostalgia

University examination for SY, TY of all the disciplines have started today. Now once again, Vallabh Vidyanagar is going to be empty soon. The roads are already empty, if you go out in afternoons. You hardly find any college goers in Vidyanagar in that period. Of course, why would they remain in Vidyanagar. They have reason for stay back. They come to Vidyanagar in the month of June in order to study (academically saying). It reminds me the college days again, when were eagerly waiting for examination to come, not because we were studious or ready for the exams. No, not at all. The only reason for that wait was not of the commencement of the examination but the end of it. Simply, we could go to our home for a longer period of two months in summer vacation.

And the lots of activities back home. Afternoon sessions at one of the friends’ home, where the only two activates we did: playing chess and cards. Just after finishing lunch, we would gather at a place and start playing till five in the evening. And after that - going out and playing cricket till 7:30 invoked a sense of national player in us. We would fight with our friends while playing game for a little matter. Though cricket was never a passion for me, I remember those days when I used to play a good cricket. A wild thought once even came to my mind in those days that I would become a cricketer. Thank god, I did not take it seriously. Though playing cricket and badminton in society in summer gives unforgettable moments, you never thought in that way when you played those games. Some of your favourites and some you do not ever want recollect the memory of. The thing which matters is, it brings a cute smile on our face.

I don’t know these students have these things to enjoy summer vacation back home, but annual examination brings a sweet smile on face saying that this is year also going to end now so be ready to enjoy the April, which was not the cruelest month in student’s life.

...Stations - Trains & Driver...

The year is going to end (academic year my dear friends. We teachers always think about academic years) just after 3 months. Days will pass, just as the same they have passed in last few months: very rapidly as if we are sitting in a fast train which is passing by a station which doesn’t have a stop of that train. Imagine: how those tiny grasses appear in front of us at that time? Las few days (rather months) have like that only. So many new things have happened. Some stations have been left so far now that it is very difficult to reach there. The thing is, we are sat in a train where our destination is not decided by us. We just have to trust the driver that he would take us to the proper place. We should be thankful to him for bringing few stations.
Suppose we are going for the long journey, it may happen that we have to change our train from one point of time. It might happen that we get down at a station in order to catch our train to reach our destination. Train may take hours to come at the station. Many people, at that time, do not wait for train to come and stay there considering their destiny and never try to open their ticket to look for the destined station. Our destined station is something else. We can stay there, but we are bound to catch our next train whenever it comes. Believe in your driver. And when we change our train we may loose many passengers, who accompanied us in previous train. If we wish their company, then we may not reach at our destined station. If we do not accompany other passengers of new train, then we may loose interest in our journey.
Keep traveling; believe in your driver, he’ll take you to the destined station.

Endless Desires...What to do???

Men always strive for the things they want to have. And they get things. After that????
A big question mark is there…. If you get the most awaited things in your life, what will happen next? Another temptation will be ready to tempt them. It does not stop. It goes on and on.
Just before few days, a thought struck to my mind. Why can’t we be like an innocent child???? My niece, Heli, is 1yr old now. It’s her first Birthday today i.e.: 13th October, 2010. She always wants to play with the remote control of T.V. And of course, we do not want her to play with that. I observed one thing about her. Whenever we snatch away the remote control from her, she does not react but go for another thing and happily play with that. And I just thought why we can’t be like her. If not this, let that come our way.
Happy Birthday Heli…
And Sorry Dear as I am not there on your first Birthday…
Love you….
God Bless You…
May you Achieve everything that you wish and fulfill the dreams of your father-mother and elders…
